New Year 2023: Lathi-charge in Bengaluru to scatter crowd

A woman who was with her boyfriend is said to have been molested on the church street in Bangaluru’s Kormangala. Her boyfriend hit the criminals in order to save her girlfriend. However, the criminals got away before the cops showed up.

When asked to confirm the occurrence and whether the victim had filed a complaint, the police were not readily available. At Kormangala, Bengaluru police frequently used lathi-charges to disperse crowds of people who were standing outside the pubs to look at people dancing inside the pubs.

At Church Street, Brigade Road, and MG Road, a sizable police contingent was stationed. The police established 37 women’s safety islands throughout the city, including in the CBD. Every 100 metres, watch towers were built.

Police officers from the BBMP were spotted telling people to wear masks on Church Street and other adjoining roads. Any attempts to sell drugs were being observed by plainclothes police officers. Approximately 14,000 police officers were stationed throughout the city.

More security personnel were deployed in locations with a high concentration of bars, such as MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Koramangala, Indiranagar, JP Nagar, and others. In order to stop intoxicated driving, checkpoints were placed every 200 metres. The staff at the checkpoints not only booked the drivers but also made sure the violators reach home safely.
