In the money laundering case former Maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh on Wednesday was granted bail and after being granted bail Deshmukh said allegations against him were baseless and unsupported by evidence.

“Param Bir Singh (then Mumbai Police commissioner), in an affidavit submitted in court, stated that the accusations made against me were based on hearsay and that he had no evidence against me,” Deshmukh said.

Meanwhile, after all the formalities were completed Deshmukh was released from jail. Earlier on Tuesday, Anil Deshmukh’s advocate Aniket Nikam said, for the extension of the stay on order granting Deshmukh’s bail CBI moved another application on Tuesday.

“Yesterday one more application was moved on behalf of CBI seeking further extension of the stay order. The application was rejected by the High Court,” Nikam said.

Moreover, without the prior approval of the trial court, Deshmukh cannot leave the jurisdiction of Mumbai and he has to cooperate with the investigation.

Earlier on 12 December, the Bombay High Court granted conditional bail to Anil Deskhmukh on a bond of Rs 1 lakh.

However, a stay of 10 days was granted by Bombay HC after hearing the plea of CBI and was extended till 27 December. The Bombay High Court on Tuesday rejected the plea for its further extension days.

Furthermore, a corruption case was filed by CBI against the NCP leader Anil Deshmukh.
