India’s daily Covid tally falls to 474, the lowest since April 2020

According to the health ministry’s morning bulletin, India continued its downward trend in daily Covid-19 caseload on Tuesday, with 474 new infections reported. With this, the country’s total population reached 4,46,67,398.

The new case count on Tuesday was the lowest since April 6, 2020, when the country recorded 354 infections.

The active caseload fell below 10,000 again, to 7,918 precisely, while the death toll rose to 5,30,533, with one fatality reported from Gujarat, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

Active cases account for 0.02 percent of total infections, with the national Covid-19 recovery rate increasing to 98.79%.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease to date has risen to 4,41,27,724 with a case fatality rate of 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry’s website, the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive has resulted in the administration of 219.81 crore doses of Covid vaccine to eligible beneficiaries.

On August 7, 2020, India’s Covid-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed the 60 lakh mark on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

Last year, India surpassed the grim milestone of two crore Covid-19 cases on May 4 and three crore on June 23. On January 25, this year, the country surpassed the four-billion-dollar mark.
