PM Modi to attend G20 Summit in Indonesia

PM Modi to attend G20 Summit in Indonesia

At the invitation of President Joko Widodo, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the G20 Summit from 14 November to 16 November in Indonesia.

Earlier on Thursday, the ministry of external affairs announced and said bilateral meets will also be held by PM Modi.

Meanwhile, on 1 December, formally, India will assume the G20 presidency.

According to the MEA statement, “At the closing session of the Summit, Indonesian President Widodo will symbolically hand over the G-20 Presidency to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.”

“During the Summit, the G-20 leaders will deliberate extensively upon key issues of global concern under the Summit theme of Recover Together, Recover Stronger,” the MEA statement added.

Moreover, the world leaders who will attend the meeting are US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, among others.

The Group of 20 or G20 is a forum which consists of developing and developed countries like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US, and the European Union (EU).

However, in Bali, PM Modi will interact and address the Indian community. 

Furthermore, on Tuesday, India’s logo, theme and website were unveiled by PM Modi for the presidency of the G20.

Talking about the logo and theme, the logo is made with the four colors of India’s national flag and the theme of G20 India 2023 – Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, One Future.
