A multi cornered battle is set on cards in Adampur Assembly seat, In a bid to win bypoll all parties namely the ruling BJP, the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) are on their toes to prove their mettle. Political experts are of the opinion that the bypolls could have an impact on the forthcoming assembly elections in the state to some extent as it is most likely to indicate the mood of voters. All parties have announced the name of star campaigners regarding the byelection.
But what emerges as the huge problem for the Congress is the tussle between the party stalwarts that kept many of them away from the campaigning for the party contestant. Several Congress leaders raised the matter of taking one sided decision by the Hooda faction.
Denial of ticket to one of the claimants Durdaram also led to widened rift among the party leaders as few of them accused Hooda of not taking decision unanimously. It also annoyed Durdaram and in a reaction to this, he quit the Congress.
Later he was fielded by the INLD after he joined the party. For the Congress, a win would be a shot in the arm in a state where it is confident of putting up a fight in 2024. But present political scenario clearly indicates that all is not well in the party.
The party stalwarts namely Kumari Seleja, Kiran Chaudhary and Randeep Surjewala refrained themselves from the campaigning of the party contestant Jai Parkash as he is a loyalist and very close to Hooda. While all Congress leaders insist there are no glitches in their ties, but contrary to this, there are enough signs of a fissure. Hooda faction is trying to soothe the nerves saying all party leaders stand united.
While the BJP brings out all its big guns, including most of its MPs, MLAs along with cabinet ministers from the state. Likewise the AAP and the INLD are putting their best for campaigning. While aforesaid senior leaders of the Congress are entirely missing from the Adampur
campaign.
