Prime Minister Modi travelled to Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli area earlier today.
Prior to landing in Chamoli, PM Modi travelled to Rudraprayag’s Kedarnath Dham and paid his respects there while wearing a traditional pahadi costume called a Chola Dora that Himachali ladies gave him during his visit to the region.
PM Modi arrived at the Jolly Grat airport in Dehradun earlier in the day and was received by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh.

He then laid the cornerstone for the Kedarnath ropeway project before going to the Samadhi Sthal of Adi Guru Shankaracharya.
Additionally, he examined the state of the construction projects along Saraswati Asthapath and Mandakini Asthapath.
The Prime Minister is in the Himalayan state to dedicate construction projects totaling more than Rs 3,400 crore.
After performing his devotions at Badrinath, PM Modi has a programme that includes reviewing the status of the riverside development project and laying the cornerstone for a road and ropeway project at Mana Village. He will assess how the development work for the lakes and arrival plaza is coming along.

Gaurikund and Kedarnath will be connected by a 9.7 km long ropeway, which will cut the current travel time between the two locations from 6-7 hours to only 30 minutes. Govindghat will be connected to Hemkund Sahib by the Hemkund ropeway. The journey will take less than an hour instead of more than a day thanks to the approximately 12.4 kilometre long bridge. This cable car will also link Ghangaria, the entryway to Valley of Flowers National Park, said the PMO statement
