Peace flourished in J&K after strong action against terror

Terrorism is not a new term when it comes to Jammu and Kashmir. People of the state have lived in fear for several decades. Over the past thirty years, violence and the killing of innocents in Jammu and Kashmir became a common events. The killing and fear are directly proportional to the number of Pakistani and local terrorists operating in the former state.

Home Minister Amit Shah was on a three-day visit to J&K.Data collected from the J&K Police and the security agencies were shared with Shah during his security review meeting in Srinagar. The data revealed that the total number of local terrorists has touched an all-time low of around 60. The number of foreign terrorists has also come down from three to two figures after 47 of them were killed by the security forces. This could be possible only because of the synergy between law enforcement and central intelligence agencies.

The security forces killed down several terrorists and the active terrorists are in fear because the coordination has resulted in actionable intelligence and precise counter-terror action with awareness of the agencies on social media and terror channels. Counter-terror data reveals that the total number of terror-related incidents has decreased from 417 in 2018 to 110 up to September 30 2022, with 255 incidents in 2019, 244 in 2020, 228 in the entire 2021 and 90 up to September 30 2021.

The counterinsurgency grid’s activation and the effective action of the JKP, Security Forces, and Special CT forces of the Indian Army are to blame for the decrease in terror-related occurrences. The security forces arrested 847 terrorists/suspects booked in 2018; 609 in 2019; 781 in 2020 and 741 in 2021. Figures reveal that the number of terror modules busted by the security forces has gone up to 111 till September 30, 2022, while it was 82 during the same time last year.

The terror recruitment level has also come down to 89 this year as compared to 108 during the same period last year. But the recruitment numbers were a high of 206 in 2018, 143 in 2019, 172 in 2020 and 137 in the entire 2021.
While the Modi government is focusing on the socio-economic empowerment of the UT people, the peace is being maintained by counter-terror actions in the entire troubled land.
