Following the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids on 29 locations linked to Dawood Ibrahim’s associates on Monday, 15 people have been questioned. It is clear that the action of NIA is to completely break the backbone of Dawood gang.

Salim Qureshi alias Salim Fruit Wala, brother-in-law and right hand of Chhota Shakeel, and Mumbai’s famous Haji Ali and Mahim Dargah’s trustee Sohail Khandwani were taken into custody.

Khandwani is the business partner of Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik. As per sources, Salim Fruitwala had given some important information about Malik.

Apart from Khandwani and Fruitwala, those who were interrogated included Abdul Qayoom, Sameer Hingora, Mobida Bhiwandiwala, and Guddu Pathan. Raids were also conducted on the premises of Baba Falooda’s owner Aslam Sarodia. The house of bookie-turned-builder Ajay Gosalia was also searched.

Salim Fruitwala was apprehended from his house in Bhendi Bazar in South Mumbai. 1993 bomb blast accused Hingora was also interrogated by NIA and then released. Hingora is the person who provided AK-56 rifles to Sanjay Dutt. He had an important role in supplying arms to Dutt. The then TADA court judge PD Kode also sentenced Hingora to nine years in prison. Hingora is also a film producer by profession and has produced many films like Dil Hi To Hai and Sanam.
