India’s Covid-19 tally crossed the16 lakh mark with 55,079 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours. While Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan stated that India’s Covid-19 case fatality rate is progressively declining and now stands at 2.18%, one of the lowest globally, just 0.28% of the total active patients are on a ventilator. He also said of the total 5,45,318 active cases, 1.61% patients need ICU care and 2.32% are on oxygen support. So far, India has recorded 16,38,870 confirmed Covid-19 cases including 35,747 deaths.

Maharashtra reported 10,320 new coronavirus cases and 265 deaths in last twenty-four hours, taking total cases to 4,22,118 including 2,56,158 discharges and 14,994 deaths. Active cases stand at 1,50,662 in the state.

Tamil Nadu reported 5,881 new Covid-19 cases and 97 deaths in last 24 hours, taking total cases to 2,45,859 including 1,83,956 discharges and 3,935 deaths. Karnataka reported 5,483 new Covid-19 cases and 84 deaths reported in the last twenty-four hours, taking total cases to 1,24,115 including 49,788 discharges and 2,314 deaths. The number of active cases stands at 72,005. The Karnataka government has announced to lift the total lockdown on Sunday and the daily night curfew in the state.

The national capital reported 1,195 new Covid-19 cases while 1,206 people have recovered. Delhi reported 27 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total cases rose to 1,35,598 including 1,20,930 recovered cases and 3,963 deaths. There are 10,705 active cases. Delhi Government is now preparing for the next round of seroprevalence survey in the national capital which is slated to begin on Saturday with authorities gearing up for the five-day exercise to comprehensively analyse the coronavirus situation in Delhi. Punjab reported its highest single-day spike of 665 Covid-19 cases and 19 more deaths in the last twentyfour hours. The death toll mounts to 386 and Covid-19 cases tally rises to 16,119 in the state.

Haryana reported 711 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 34,965 including 28,227 recoveries and 421 deaths. Active cases stands at 6,317.

 Bihar’s Covid-19 tally breaches 50,000-mark with the highest single-day spike of 2,986 fresh cases, 13 fatalities in the last twenty-four hours push death toll to 298. Andhra Pradesh reported new record single-day high of 10,376 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The number of positive cases in the state is now 1,40,933 including 75,720 active cases and 63,864 patients got discharged till now. The number of deaths caused due to the deadly virus stands at 1,349.

Uttar Pradesh reported the highest single-day spike of 4,453 Covid-19 cases and 43 deaths due to the disease in the last twenty-four hours, taking the infection tally to over 85,000 and the death toll to 1,630. There are 34,968 active cases in UP and 48,663 patients have been discharged after treatment. The death toll has reached 1,630. There are 85,261 corona cases in the state.

 Jammu and Kashmir registered 490 more coronavirus cases, taking the number of infections to over the 20,000-mark. While the death toll rose to 377 with 12 more fatalities in the last 24 hours. There are 7,765 Covid-positive cases, while 12,217 patients have recovered so far. Two out of the 12 new fatalities were from the Jammu region while 10 were from the Kashmir Valley. The death toll from the pandemic rose to 377.
