India’s Covid tally crosses 12-lakh mark

India’s Covid tally crosses 12-lakh mark

India’s Covid-19 case tally has crossed the 12-lakh mark with the highest single-day spike of 45,720 new cases and 1,129 deaths. The total coronavirus cases stand at 12,38,635 which includes 4,26,167 active cases, and 7,82,606 have been cured till now. The country has recorded 29,861 deaths so far due to the deadly virus, even as the number of tests for Covid-19 has crossed the 15-million mark in the country.

Meanwhile, to tackle the Covid-19 situation in the country over the past month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended over 50 presentations and review meets aimed at channelising measures taken to upend the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Maharashtra continues to remain the top coronavirus-affected state. In the last 24 hours, total of 9,895 new Covid-19 cases and 298 deaths were reported. With this, the state has recorded 3,47,502 cases and 12,854 deaths so far. A total of 6,484 people recovered and got discharged, and 1,94,253 patients have been discharged so far. Currently, 8,74,267 people are in home quarantine and 45,222 people are in institutional quarantine. The recovery rate in the state stands at 55.9 per cent. Meanwhile, Mumbai saw a surge of total of 1,257 new coronavirus cases and 55 deaths were reported. With this, Mumbai has recorded 1,05,829 cases and 5,927 deaths so far. A total of 1,984 people recovered and got discharged, and 77,102 patients have been discharged so far. The recovery rate in Mumbai district is 72%.

 India’s national capital recorded 1,041 fresh positive cases, while 1,415 patients got recovered from different hospitals across the state. 26 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. Delhi has so far recorded 1,27,364 total positive cases, while 1,09,065 has been recovered/ discharged and 3,745 deaths reported.

Tamil Nadu reported a single-day high of 6,472 new Covid-19 cases and 88 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases stand at 1,92,964 including 52,939 active cases, 1,36,793 discharged cases and 3,232 deaths. Meanwhile, in Kerala 1,078 new positive cases and 5 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. Number of active cases stands at 9,468.

West Bengal saw a surge of 2,436 new Covid-19 positive cases and 34 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases now stands at 51,757 in the state, including 18,846 active cases, 31,656 discharged cases and 1,255 deaths.

 Punjab reported 441 new coronavirus positive cases and 8 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases now stands at 11739 including 3721 active cases, 7741 discharged cases and 277 deaths.

Haryana recorded 789 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours which took the total tally to 28975. While 378 people died due to the deadly virus and 22,249 patients have recovered so far. There are now 6348 active cases of corona in the state.

 Andhra Pradesh reported 7,998 new Covid-19 positive cases and 61 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases now at 72,711 including 34,272 active cases, 37,555 discharged cases and 884 deaths.

Gujarat reported 1,078 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking tally to 52,563. The toll rose to 2,257 with 28 more deaths. Meanwhile, Karnataka’s coronavirus tally rose to 80,863 with 5,030 new cases. The toll rose to 1,616 with 96 more casualties.

In Assam, two persons died due to coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 66, while 972 fresh cases were reported in the state. The state’s infection tally stands at 27,744.

Madhya Pradesh reported 632 new coronavirus positive cases and 10 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 25474 including 780 deaths and 7335 active cases across the state.
