According to police, a 53-year-old man raped an eight-year-old girl in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari neighborhood on Wednesday. The victim and the accused both resided in the same building, according to Mumbai police, and the girl’s mother used to leave her there while she went to work because there was no one at home to watch over her. The girl told her mother about the incident a few days ago, and she immediately filed a complaint with the police station. The accused was taken into custody after Mumbai police filed a case under Section 376 of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
