Providing good news to beneficiaries and employees, the Karnataka Govt has hiked the dearness allowance (DA) by 27.5%.

This decision was taken on the basis of recommendation given by 7th Pay Commission, which was led by ex-chief secretary K Sudhakar Rao. This was declared during the cabinet meeting led by CM of Karnataka Siddaramaiah.

This latest increase will come into force from August 1, 2024. This latest development will most likely cause the annual depletion of govt exchequer Rs 17,440.15 crore additionally.

But the pressure was plaguing the Siddaramaiah government to authorize salary increase following Karnataka State Government Employees Association declaration of infinite strike in august.

Talking about this hike, Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge has declared, that this was one of people’s demands and is set to provide benefits to around 14 to 15 lakh state employees.

Moreover, he also revealed, that it was mentioned in their manifesto. It was presented in the cabinet meeting earlier on Monday.

Earlier, the ex-chief minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai had provided employees a temporary 17 per cent salary increase. Subsequently to which, Siddaramaiah is likely to make an addition of 10.5 points. Thus, reaching the total of 27.5 per cent increase, as advised by 7th pay commission.
