India’s Covid-19 tally crossed the 18.5-lakh mark, with 52,050 cases being reported in the last 24 hours. The country now has 18,55,745 coronavirus cases, with 803 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths count has climbed to 38,938. The Health Ministry, while giving a break-up of the mortality rate according to gender, said that about 68% of Covid-19 deaths were reported among male patients and 32% among female patients in India. In terms of age, 50% of such deaths took place in the age group of 60 years and above. About 37% of Covid-19 deaths in India took place in the age group of 45 to 60 years, while 11% of deaths were recorded in the age group of 26 to 44 years.

Maharashtra reported 7,760 fresh Covid-19 cases and 300 deaths in the last 24 hours. Over 12,326 people have also been discharged after recovering from the disease. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, 709 fresh Covid-19 cases and 56 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate in Mumbai now stands at 77%.

Delhi recorded 674 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally in the city to over 1.39 lakh, while the death toll from the disease climbed to 4,033. The three-figure count for new cases was recorded on a day when the total number of tests conducted stood at 9,295.

Tamil Nadu reported 5,063 Covid-19 cases, 6,501 discharged and 108 deaths in the last 24 hours. West Bengal recorded its highest singleday spike of 2,752 new cases, following which the tally rose to 80,984 while 54 more death of Covid-19 were reported in the last 24 hours. Karnataka reported its biggest single day spike of 6,259 Covid-19 cases and 110 fresh deaths, taking the total infection count to 1,45,830 and the toll to 2,704.

 Uttar Pradesh crossed the one lakh mark of coronavirus cases as the state recorded 2,948 fresh cases on in the last 24 hours. A total of 41 fatalities were recorded in the state in the past 24 hours, taking the death count due to the disease to 1,817. Gujarat reported 1,020 new coronavirus cases, while Madhya Pradesh recorded 797 fresh Covid-19 cases.

Haryana reported eight more deaths due to Covid-19, while 623 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 37,796. The death toll due to Covid-19 in Haryana has reached 448. So far, 31,226 patients have been discharged after treatment. The state now has 6,122 active Covid-19 cases.
