The latest addition in Vivo’s V series is the V20 Pro. We have seen the V20 and now it is time for the Pro version of it. 5G-compatible and the lightest 5G device one can have, as the company claims, what remains to be seen now is whether it will be the favourite among people looking for mid-range 5G picks.

DESIGN

Design has always been an integral part of Vivo devices and the V20 Pro is no different. The phone looks like the V20, but is slightly shorter and relatively slimmer. The power button on the right has a textured finish. The SIM tray is placed at the bottom. The camera module is well fitted at the back. The phone has nicely rounded edges, making the device easy for single-hand usage. Vivo has also used a matte-finish back made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The colourful back also makes the device look unique.

CAMERA

I am always keen to test a Vivo camera as they put in a lot of hard work in this department. With the V20 Pro, they have gone all in. For selfies, you get a 44-megapixel primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture and autofocus, and an additional ultra-wide-angle 8-megapixel camera. On the back, there is a 64-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.89 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus that doubles up as a macro camera, and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera which is only used to enable the ‘Graded B/W’ filter in Photo mode. Vivo also boasts of having eye autofocus (Eye AF) for the main selfie camera for shooting stills and video.

The main lens of Vivo V20 Pro gets you warm pictures, which might not be the most natural-looking but are liked by a lot of users. The ultra-wide lens also does its job well. The lens might be not as good as the main one, but it helps capture the essence of an image.

The front camera gets two lenses. Low-light selfies turn out decent, and you have the option of using the Night Mode as well. You can even shoot 4K 60fps videos with the front camera, but the ultra-wide front camera can only shoot up to 1080p.

The device gets a great camera app which offers plenty of other shooting modes. The portrait mode works very well, and you can add style and beauty filters along with adjusting the level of background blur.

The V20 Pro’s capable camera set-up stands strong amongst competitors.

DISPLAY

The Vivo V20 Pro gets a 6.44-inch full-HD+ AMOLED panel with Schott’s Xensation Up cover glass. Colours show up as rich and bright, and the display supports HDR too. However, the dual selfie camera placed on the front makes the phone look a bit outdated.

PERFORMANCE & SOFTWARE

The Vivo V20 Pro is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, which is what the heart of the device needed to compete in the market. This helps multi-level apps work seamlessly on the device and makes it good for viewing a variety of content. The AMOLED screen is bright and showed no lag or glitches while watching content. Even for gamers, this is a good mid-range pick as graphics look good on the phone. The phone also does not heat up and has a decent battery life.

BATTERY

The Vivo V20 Pro is powered by a 4000mAh battery. The phone works well for around 15 hours with a single charge. You can easily use the device as per routine daily usage and not have to worry about your charger.

VERDICT

At Rs 29,900, the Vivo V20 Pro is a good 5G-enabled pick. The phone is rich in design and display, and has a capable camera set-up which gives you multiple options for shooting and clicking pictures. Low-light photography with the camera might not be the best, but it is surely not a deal breaker. The phone performs well for a mid-range and holds a great position in the market when compared with its existing competitors. So, for anyone looking for a 5G-enabled device with a good display and design, the Vivo V20 Pro is an easy choice.
