Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in the firing line of Congress leaders for long. Starting from Sonia Gandhi as well as her children Rahul and Priyanka have led the Congress charge against PM Modi and in several occasions have crossed the line of decency in their utterances.
In the latest such diatribe against PM Modi, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi tried to link Team India’s loss in the One Day International World Cup final to Australia to the presence of PM Modi in the stadium. While addressing an election rally in Rajasthan’s Jalore, Rahul used a highly objectionable Hindi term “panauti” which means a bad omen for the Prime Minister going to attend the final match.
PM Modi had earlier mentioned that Congress had used 91 different abuses to target him and Rahul’s new statement only adds one more to the list.
Let’s look at five times when Congress directly attacked PM Modi:
-
- Priyanka Gandhi’s Bold Accusation: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi took direct aim at Prime Minister Modi during a rally in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, stating, “I have never seen a more cowardly and weak Prime Minister than him in my life.” ( Inse bada kayar aur kamzor pradhan Mantri meine aaj tak nahi dekha) Her bold accusation adds fuel to the ongoing political feud.
- Rahul Gandhi’s Contradictory Statements: Congress President Rahul Gandhi, at a rally in Dungarpur, Rajasthan, called Modi ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai.’ He indirectly referred to Narendra Modi, saying, “Narendra Modi had once said he didn’t want to be the Prime Minister; he wanted to be the country’s watchman.”
- Rahul Gandhi, Broker of Soldiers’ Blood (Jawano ke khoon ke dalal): Rahul Gandhi, in a severe insult, called Prime Minister Modi a broker of the blood (जवानों के खून के दलाल) of soldiers during the Kisan Yatra in Delhi on October 6, 2016.
- Sonia Gandhi’s Poisonous Allegations: During the Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Sonia Gandhi accused PM Modi of cultivating poison. She conveyed her trust that the public would not approve of those who sow the seeds of poison( Mera pura Bharosa hai ki aap log aese logo ko manzur nahi karenge jo zehar ke beej bote ho). This statement was made in Gulberg, Karnataka, on February 1, 2014.
- Sonia Gandhi Labels Modi ‘Merchant of Death‘: In the 2007 election campaign, Sonia Gandhi referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “merchant of death (Maut ka Saudagar).” The people of Gujarat retaliated against this insult, leading to a significant defeat for the Congress party.
