Berlin is built on a well-thought-out heist with all possible backup plans. Berlin, however, is almost entirely focused on the romantic lives of its main actors, in contrast to the original series, which focused mostly on the actual heist and occasionally cut to glimpses of the thieves’ private lives to divert our attention from the suspenseful robbery scenes. Actually, spoiler alert: the eight-episode series ends with the completion of the heist, which involves stealing 44 million in jewels from a closely secured vault. What comes next is a series of unfinished love stories presented as a police chase.
Based loosely on a real-life event, Soup tells the tale of inept chef Swathi Shetty (Konkona Sensharma), who aspires to own her own restaurant someday, and her dubious husband Prabhakar (Manoj Bajpayee), who refuses to support her goals and harbors misgivings of his own. Soon after, fate presents her with a chance, and she begins to devise a brilliant scheme. However, quirky characters and inexperienced villains pollute the broth, so things don’t turn out as planned.
Yeoh portrays Eileen “Mama” Sun in The Brothers Sun. She resides in California with her youngest son Bruce (Sam Song Li). Bruce quickly finds out a horrific secret about his family’s past in Taiwan, however, when older sibling Charles (Justin Chien) shows up out of the blue, bringing mistakes and violence with him—uncomfortable circumstances that Eileen originally fled from in order to keep her children safe.
