A bus carrying 70 passengers, primarily comprising school and college students, was involved in a collision with a truck, resulting in injuries to 55 individuals, as reported by officials.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:45 am near Desai village within Wada tehsil. The bus, operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), was heavily populated with school and college students, according to Vilas Rathod, the corporation’s Thane divisional controller.
The collision transpired when the bus was traversing the Chinchpada-Wada Road and encountered a truck approaching from the opposite direction. Of the 70 passengers on board, 55, including 47 students, sustained injuries. Fortunately, none of these injuries were classified as major, Rathod stated.
All the injured individuals, including the bus driver, received prompt medical attention at local hospitals. Following primary treatment, they were deemed fit to return to their homes. Police inspector Suresh Kadam verified that a substantial number of those injured in the accident were indeed students.
