A 35-year-old woman eventually mustered the bravery to accuse the family of her stepfather of raping her when she was just seven years old, nearly three decades after the alleged incident.

After receiving encouragement from her ex-army spouse for 28 years, the woman finally made this decision.

The victim stated in the lawsuit that the “nightmare” persisted until the age of 19. A FIR has been registered at the Aligarh police station. The victim claimed that the police did not originally record her complaint. She then contacted the SSP, the National Commission for Women, and the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh’s grievance redressal portal, according to reports.

The suspects were eventually charged under sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing harm), 504 (intentional insult with intent to cause breach of peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code after the FIR was registered (IPC).

According to the FIR, one of her step-uncles sexually assaulted her when she was seven years old. She told her mother about the experience after complaining of stomach trouble, and she was given some medicine and told to be “silent.”

Reportedly, the woman was sexually assaulted multiple times up to the age of 19 after being raped by a different step-uncle.

The victim alleged: “After that, I did everything I could to stop them. Even though they were unable to rape me, they insulted my modesty.”

Media reports said that the woman was married in January 2011 and that the accused allegedly tried to rape her whenever she returned home to see her mother.

She mustered the strength to tell her spouse about the catastrophe since she was unable to handle the mental pain. She was encouraged by her spouse to lodge a complaint against her stepfather’s family members.
