Party leaders including ministers Bhupendra Yadav, Sudha Yadav, Rao Narbir Singh and others are at loggerheads with Inderjit over battle of dominance in Ahirwal.
In wake of prevailing political scenario, it is believed to be a tough contest between Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and the main opposition party Congress on many seats in the Lok sabha elections scheduled on 25th in the sixth phase on all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana as per the directions of the Election Commission. In this context, following the inputs shared by the state leadership with the party high command in the recent meeting of BJP, it came to fore that the ruling and opposite factions are in neck to neck fight on at least three to four seats in Haryana. Although, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) a former ally of BJP’s in power for four and a half years and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) an arch rival of the JJP following the split in Chautala family, are continuously claiming to return to power with majority, but what is evident from the the political climate as well as experts believe that the BJP and the Congress are on toes to repeat history by marking consecutive victory on all Lok Sabha seats and stop the saffron party from having a clean sweep respectively.
In this series, it is pertinent to mention that the Gurugram seat also emerges as one of the hottest Lok Sabha seats in the state. Rao Inderjit, five time MP-thrice from Gurugram and twice from Mahendragarh seat, despite having influence over a dozen assembly seats in the Ahirwal belt, is facing challenges within the party apart from with the opposition candidate simultaneously. Following his feud with several party heavyweights, he continues to face their ire ahead of parliamentary polls. The BJP stalwarts, he is at loggerheads with, comprises around a half a dozen leaders of his party.
Having a unilateral hold evident from the results of Lok Sabha and assembly polls held earlier, Rao Inderjit plays pivotal role in state politics, especially in South Haryana known as Ahirwal belt and due to which it seems an uphill task for all parties to form the government without the support of Rao Inderjit . But in the last few months, he has been at loggerheads with the party leaders including heavyweights namely PM Narendra Modi’s close aide and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav and BJP Parliamentary Board member Sudha Yadav. Apart from these, former Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh, former MLA Randhir Kapriwas, who returned to BJP some time ago, Haryana Tourism Corporation Chairman Arvind Yadav and Santosh Yadav are not on good terms with himm. With the polls drawing near, the widened rift with the aforementioned party’s big faces, might result in huge loss for him. Infighting with Rao Narbir and Randhir Kapdiwas may result in loss for Rao Inderjit in Gurugram along with Badshahpur and Rewari assembly respectively. It is noteworthy that most of the aforesaid leaders have sweated profusely while canvassing in support of BJP Alwar candidate Bhupender Yadav before the first phase voting of Lok Sabha elections In this row, contrary to expectations, most of these including Randhir Singh Kapriwas and Dr. Arvind Yadav have refrained themselves when it comes to campaigning for Rao Inderjit.
Similarly, the Congress candidate, Raj Babbar, five time MP and actor-turned politician, from Gurugram may face the ire of the party leaders denied the ticket. The widened rift among the party big shot Bhupender Singh Hooda and SRK faction namely Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Chaudhary led to a delay in the announcement for the party candidate from Gurugram and finally the party high command took the final call declaring Raj Babbar party candidate on the seat. . Although many Congressmen were upset over his name and mainly the ticket claimant from here, Captain Ajay Yadav, who protested openly saying that ‘’if only an actor had to be fielded in the electoral battle, Ranveer Kapoor and Ranbir Singh would have been a better option”.
The drawback of Congress not being able to come up with organisational appointments due to infighting can become a problem for him whereas BJP is very strong in terms of organizational set up in the state contrary to Congress..
It is pertinent to mention that Rao Inderjit Singh has been elected MP from Gurgaon seat three times consecutively. In 2009, he won the election on a Congress ticket defeating Zakir Hussain of Bahujan Samaj Party by a margin of about 90 thousand votes BJP candidate Sudha Yadav remained on third position, After this, in 2014 elections,, had secured about 6.5 lakh votes contesting on the ticket of the BJP while Indian Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate Zakir Hussain had got only about 3 lakh 70 thousand votes.
In the 2019 elections also, Rao Inderjit Singh, contesting on the BJP ticket, defeated Captain Ajay Singh of Congress by a huge margin.
