Two migrant workers from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, were killed in Jammu & Kashmir’s Shopian district when a terrorist lobbed a grenade at them, according to police. In addition to this, police said that the terrorist was arrested on Tuesday.

The two were wounded in the grenade attack in Shopian’s Harmen when they were sleeping at their rented accommodation. The two were rushed to a hospital where they succumbed to their injuries,” police wrote in a tweet.

The migrant workers were shot dead three days after Puran Krishan Bhat, a 56-year-old Kashmiri Pandit fruit grower, was shot at his Shopian residence on Saturday.

The attack on migrant labourers on Tuesday was the most recent in a string of attacks. Muneer ul Islam, a labourer from West Bengal, was shot at in Pulwama on September 2.

Islam was targeted by gunfire days after Mohammad Amrez, a migrant labourer from the Madhepora region of Bihar, was slain on August 11 in Sumbal in the Bandipora area.

Days before India celebrated its 75th anniversary of independence, two terrorists attempted to storm an army camp at Pargal in the J&K Rajouri district, killing four soldiers and injuring another two. Amrez was shot dead shortly after this incident.

The assault on the camp was the first of its kind since terrorists killed six troops and a civilian in an attack on an army base at Sunjuwan in Jammu in 2018.
