Zirakpur police recovered 175 kg of stolen post from a car during a blockade and in this case, police arrested the car driver and his accomplice. The arrested accused have been identified as car driver Narinder Singh resident of village Ghazipur, Tehsil Rajpura, Patiala and Sikandar Singh resident of Tarapur, Block Majri, SAS Nagar. Police have registered a case against both of them under 15-61-85 NDPS Act.
According to the information, the police party had blocked the rear side of Satsang Bhawan from PR-7 McDee Zirakpur towards Chhatt Light Point. During this, the vehicles passing through there were being checked. According to the police, at around 8 am, an Innova car came near the check post at a slow speed and then suddenly started moving at a high speed. The police personnel present at the check post somehow stopped the car and got the two persons in the car down and started searching the car. But the persons in the car asked to search the car in the presence of a gazetted officer. After which the car was searched under the supervision of DSP Amarpreet on the spot. During this, the police found 175 kg of churapost in 7 bags from the trunk of the car. Each bag was filled with 25 kg of churapost. The police arrested both the accused and registered a case against them. Both the accused have been produced in the court and taken on three-day remand. The police is trying to find out from where such a huge amount of poppy husk was brought and to whom it was to be supplied. The police is also investigating since when the arrested accused have been doing this work.
