Madhya Pradesh authorities have taken decisive action against 11 private schools in Jabalpur, filing FIRs and apprehending 20 individuals on charges of unlawfully increasing fees and pressuring students to purchase books from private publishers.
In response to these allegations, the district administration has levied a substantial fine of Rs 22 lakh on the implicated schools. Jabalpur Collector Deepak Kumar Saxena revealed that investigations unearthed a staggering sum of Rs 81.30 crore extracted through illegal fee hikes. He emphasized that the entire amount must be refunded to parents, alongside the imposed penalty.
Should the schools fail to comply with the directive to reimburse parents within 30 days, the administration has warned of initiating attachment proceedings to ensure restitution.
