Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister, Anil Vij, said that the health department is completely prepared to deal with the H3N2 influenza virus. There is no need for people to panic, added the health minister. Vij was responding to a question asked by a media person regarding the death of a person in Jind due to the H3N2 influenza virus, here today.
He said that so far, 10 patients with H3N2 influenza virus have been detected in Haryana, of whom one has died and was a resident of Jind. The deceased patient was suffering from lung cancer, so directions have been given to the Health Department to investigate whether death has occurred due to cancer or the H3N2 virus.
It is worth mentioning that it is the H3N2 virus, a subtype of influenza A, regarding which the Indian Medical Association has also issued an advisory. In this disease, the patient has problems like a high fever, a severe headache, and pain in the body, a sore throat, a severe cough, a cold, and congestion in the lungs. There are a total of 90 cases of H3N2 influenza in India.
It is being informed that, with any such symptoms, it is important to stay hydrated and complete rest is required. Do not eat outside food at all and take a fluid diet. This will provide relief soon. Also, keep your distance from those who are infected with it, keep your hands sanitized, and follow social distancing.
It is further informed that the symptoms of H3N2 are similar to those of Covid infection. Both of these are viral infections that may mutate very quickly. That’s why there is a need to be cautious.
