The Punjab government has withdrawn the order to stop the motorcycle hawkers Known as Jugaad Rehri. After the ruckus on the social media about the action, ADGP Traffic said that for the time being we will spread awareness in people on this. During the elections, these street vendors had campaigned for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). After the ban orders, the pictures of AAP campaigning also started being shared in a big way.
Opponents were also questioning the ban as the government did not offer alternative arrangements. This is the third decision of the Mann government in a month which he has been forced to recant.
Earlier, the government had changed the decision of free electricity. Initially, CM Mann said that SC category will get 600 units free in any case. This exemption will be available up to 2 kW load. However, when the general category got angry due to this, the Power Minister clarified by saying the exemption will be available up to one kilowatt load. The SC category having more connections than this will also have to pay the full bill if there are more than 600 units.
After this, the arrest warrants of about 2 thousand farmers were issued in the state. These farmers had not repaid the loan of Kheti Vikas Bank.
When the farmer unions got furious about this, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema announced to stop arresting them.
